Léon Bara‘s Fall/Winter 2017 collection is a utopian projection of the present, imagined from a standpoint at turn of the twentieth century. Vernacular workwear and early 20th century tailoring are re-cast for a naively envisaged world of the future. Weather-resistant outerwear is cut from low- tech period fabrics like Loden wool, or waterproof fabrics of the not-too-distant future such as Ventile. With a naturalistic color palette drawn from the Art Nouveau, Léon Bara’s FW17 looks not backward but forward, to a familiar yet radically different vision of today.
