CHRISTIAN L’ENFANT ROI Spring/Summer 2015 Lookbook
by Adriano B.
CHRISTIAN L’ENFANT ROI SS15 collection explores the art of fencing and introduces l’Enfant Roi as a duelist. This form of elegant combat is in itself a juxtaposition of both harmony and chaos. The geometry created during an exchange is as poetic as it is deadly. SS15 explores this fine line by re-imagining the traditional fencing jacket, breeches and plastron into CHRISTIAN L’ENFANT ROI’s boyish universe. Reinterpreting these armors, by use of straps and technical finishings contrasted with loungewear done in natural textiles and relaxed boxy fits, further highlights the duality found in this prestigious sport.
The colours used mimic the fencing uniform by replacing white with buttercream and ecru. These are paired with black, slate grey and gunmetal blue. Lavender and muted yellow provide for a modern pairing atypical to traditional fencing attire. Custom prints, developed by Mike Rinaldi, provide for a welcome break to the aesthetic. For SS15, the evolution of CHRISTIAN L’ENFANT ROI will consist of under armour shirting with prominent pockets, wide knicker-like pants, overalls, darted trousers and shorts, and raglan sleeve technical jackets.
