POLAROID [IM]POSSIBLE Exhibition @ Westlicht Museum

The Westlicht Museum of Photography in Vienna purchased the International Polaroid Collection from the Swiss Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne. Now over 350 Polaroids by various artists,with the help of Impossible, are on display in the museum, ranging from a self-portrait by Andy Warhol to Patrick Nagatani’s meta-referential Polaroid pieces and David Levinthal’s “Vietnam” and “Space” series’, and also many works of outstanding photographers unknown on the art market until now. ”Polaroid [Im]possible” will be running from 17 June through 21 August, 2011. »

The 19th edition of The Life Ball was presented by Dsquared². The duo created 85 unique looks witnessed by a crowd of 50,000 guests that included a lot of international celebrity guests Janet Jackson, Bill Clinton, Vivienne Westwood, Anna Dello Russo, Natasha Bedingfield and Francois Sagat. This event was established to raise money for research and prevention against AIDS. Dean & Dan Caten of DSquared2 commented: “The Life Ball is a celebration of life and hope. We are more than honored to participate and to help raise funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS, an issue very dear to us.” »

AS IF present an exhibition of 25 pages from a never-before-exhibited sketchbook of drawings by the late artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, made for musician Arto Lindsay in 1981 in an East Village apartment where Lindsay was staying. The notebook illustrates Basquiat’s hand at absurdist and concrete poetry with equally fragmented drawings incorporating his sputters of speech. »

Jason Tam is a graphic designer based in NYC. His project “As the music dies” wanted to make shirts with a special cut, great fabric and hand-done illustrations. The first line’s theme is based loosely on “fall from grace” and overall it is inspired by horror movies and music.
