Kartik Research and S.W.C Join Forces for an Exclusive Capsule Collection
by Adriano Batista
In a celebration of sports and unity, Delhi’s Kartik Research has partnered with London’s Stepney Workers Club to launch an exclusive capsule collection that embodies the spirit of cricket. This collaboration is a tribute to the way sports, especially cricket, bridge cultural divides and foster community bonds.
The collection showcases a co-branded sports club emblem that resonates with the message of ‘Freedom of Sport, Freedom of Thought,’ blending iconic elements of British and Indian cricket heritage. It’s a nod to the unifying power of sport clubs and the cosmic ties they symbolize.
A highlight of the range is the unique running sneaker, a fresh take on the S.W.C’s Amiel S-Strike model, adorned in ‘cricket’ Ecru and accented with Kartik Research’s signature vintage Kantha quilting. The design features intricate color embroidery, asymmetric branding, and mirror circles on the heel, a hallmark of Kartik Research’s design ethos.
The Varsity Jacket stands out with its use of vintage Kantha quilting, giving each piece a distinct character and history. The jacket harmoniously combines Ecru and red, the quintessential cricket colors, and is embellished with mirror detailing and hand-embroidered motifs that celebrate the collaboration.
Complementing the collection are handloom cotton trading tops, dyed with natural plant extracts and sourced from Bengal, and the cotton Ecru denim Chore Coat, crafted in a Himachal Pradesh custom mill. The lineup is rounded off with a distinctive track pant, featuring hand-embroidered emblems and a mirrored stripe, made from Himachal Pradesh’s cotton handloom fabric.
