“La isla bonita”, as many call it, has been considered one of the places to be during the summer for decades. There, the best techno clubs in the world can be found, hosting parties that every dance culture lover wants to attend, as they are led by the industry’s top DJs, and the energy is unique to the place.

This season, one of the standout names has been Mau P, who, at 28 years old, can already boast of having become the resident DJ of one of the most popular parties at the iconic Pacha Ibiza club, Baddest Behaviour, which none of the hundreds of thousands of followers the Dutchman has on social media would miss if they were on the island.

We had the opportunity to talk and get to know him better. Find out everything he told us below:

Hey Mau! Thanks for sitting down with us before your set at Pacha Ibiza, where this summer you’ve become a resident DJ of one of their parties. Congrats! How are you feeling?

Thank you for being here. We’re going to have a great time tonight!

I feel amazing. It’s an honour for me to be a resident DJ at this iconic club and party, Baddest Behaviour, which from here I invite anyone who wants to have fun to come to. The energy is special and cool, because as well as I’m DJing, I’m often joined by other artists I admire musically, encouraging the concept of collaboration between colleagues.

That sounds exciting! Besides that energy you mentioned, what else can people expect?

In my opinion, people should come with no musical expectations at all—just be ready to let go 100%. Nights in Ibiza can take you to unexpected places, and that’s the beauty of it. It’s always a safe environment where nothing and no one gets judged, and there’s really just one rule: have fun.

Noted. Is it possible to have fun while working? Do you follow any ritual before stepping on stage?

Of course! I enjoy every second behind the decks. Music is one of my passions, so when I’m working, I’m honestly at my happiest.

As for rituals—I don’t really have one, but I’m definitely superstitious. I’ve got these little quirks, like putting on my socks in a certain order, touching a doorknob, or taking a tequila shot with my left hand. Once I’ve done that, I’m ready to go and give the crowd a proper set.

“Dress Code” is one of your most popular tracks—and also something that tends to matter in nightclubs. In your opinion, how should people dress for a Baddest Behaviour party?

Just like the track says, there’s no dress code. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident, and come with the right mood. On the dancefloor, nobody cares about what someone else is wearing—the focus is always on the music.

Right. As a music lover, aside from your own tracks, do you have a favorite go-to song for a special celebration?

“Free” by Ultra Naté. It’s an old house track that I absolutely love.

Great choice! Continuing on tracks, you recently dropped your latest release, “Tesla.” What can you tell us about it?

Indeed, “Tesla” is my most recent track. I spent quite a while working on it, and from the reaction, it seems like people were really waiting for this one. That makes me very happy—especially when it reaches new listeners who don’t normally follow what I do. Some of them first heard it at Coachella, where I premiered it. I’ve got such good memories of that moment; it was an amazing experience.

After-festival party – yes or no?

Definitely yes. Always!

You must have some funny stories. Any from Ibiza that you’d like to share with our readers?

I’ve got plenty, but my favorites are when my friends and I end up at the beach at 10 a.m. Those are the best ones.

Do you remember the first time you went to Pacha Ibiza?

Yes, the first time I went, Solomun was playing. I already knew him a little, so they let me hang out in the booth while he performed. It was honestly inspiring—every track he dropped came with a little story. I was younger back then, so I soaked it all up like a masterclass.

What a memory! The world’s biggest DJs have played at the club, and now you’re part of that exclusive group. How does it feel?

It feels like an honour to be part of Pacha’s history and family, and to be able to contribute to Ibiza’s dance and nightlife culture. I am very grateful for the opportunity they have given me, and I hope this relationship will last for many years to come.

For sure. Thanks, Mau!

Mau P will be playing at Pacha Ibiza’s “Baddest Behaviour” party until 8th October.
