SONGZIO Fall/Winter 2024
by Adriano Batista
Songzio has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, titled ‘Night Thieves’, at Paris Mens Fashion Week. The collection is inspired by the anti-heroes of the night, who embody the paradoxes and complexities of the human condition.
The collection draws from a painting of Prometheus, the mythical figure who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humanity, but also unleashed chaos and suffering. The painting, which depicts his eternal punishment, serves as a metaphor for the divergent perspectives and unintended consequences that shape the world. The anti-heroes of the collection are like Prometheus, who brought us light and darkness, order and disorder, hope and despair.
The collection showcases Songzio’s signature style of blending the oriental and the occidental, the classical and the modern, the dark and the shiny. The silhouettes are influenced by the cocoon, dolman and bell shapes, creating a contrast between curves and angles, sharpness and roundness. The fabrics are also inspired by ancient armors, featuring plated pieces that are cut and arranged symmetrically or asymmetrically.
The collection also incorporates elements of fluidity and imperfection, through the use of draping and layering, which create a sense of movement and dynamism. The collection reflects Songzio’s painting technique of crossing strokes, where the vertical strokes represent the object and the horizontal strokes represent its emotions. The collection expresses the emotions of the anti heroes, such as anguish, envy and determination.
There’s also a special collaboration with Reebok, presenting an avant-garde activewear collection that ranges from sneakers to voluminous outerwear. The collaboration combines the sporty and the stylish, the casual and the formal, the functional and the aesthetic.
