Salon d’été: an arty escapism with the emerging Paris art scene
by Ivica Mamedy

Looking for some escapism not far from Paris this weekend? The Maison Louis Carré by Alva and Elissa Aalto is welcoming some of the most exciting emerging Parisian gallerists and contemporary artists for a two-day program including a DJ set, performances, and talks. The Salon d’été project initiated by Fitzpatrick Gallery, Sans titre, and The Performance Agency has this ambitious initiative to link 18 galleries, 4 project spaces and 1 publisher inside one of the most charming places in the southwest countryside of Paris (Yvelines).

Alva Aalto was contacted in the autumn of 1956 by the well-known French art dealer Louis Carré and his wife, who wished to build a villa of the highest artistic quality and material comfort on a large plot Carré had acquired near the village of Bazoches, with a sweeping view of a history-rich landscape that merges with the Forêt de Rambouillet. In addition to the architecture, Aalto was to be responsible for the furnishings – as exclusively designed as possible – and for the landscaping of the whole plot with terraces and plantings.

For this first edition of Salon d’été taking place on July 22 and 23, The Performance Agency curated a list of artists and musicians to perform inside the whole space of La Maison Louis Carré. Celebrating the architecture and creating a bridge between their art and the modern vision of Louis Carré, collector and art dealer who co-founded the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (CPGA) with the intention of solidifying the network of Parisian art galleries. The purpose of Salon d’été aims to unite members of the Paris art scene in a weekend of collective conversation through art.

Some of the participants are Ciaccia Levi, High Art, Crevecoeur, Derouillon, Sultana, Exo Exo, After8book, Mor Charpenter…
