Moncler and Palm Angels redefine American archetypes through the art of lightness
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
In January 2017, the first collaboration between two brands, Supreme and Louis Vuitton, was born. This marked a before and after in the fashion industry, and from then on, a whole social phenomenon began to develop. Every day of the week new joint projects are discovered and this means that, to a certain extent, there is an over-saturation of the subject and that, sometimes, the final result presented ends up not surprising. Few do, but Moncler and Palm Angels have managed to achieve this; if not, look at the lookbook for their latest capsule collection.
Both are Italian in origin and leaders in their respective sectors, one in outerwear and the other in urban fashion. And, what happens when two heavyweights join forces? They become invincible, even more so if they work side by side and understand each other well.
Francesco Ragazzi, founder of Palm Angels, knows his company perfectly, but also the other party involved in the project, perhaps that’s why he knows what they expect from him and what he has to offer, although, it’s a matter of two.
Anyway, the point is that together they have introduced the most special collab of Fall/Winter 2023, and that’s partly because of the exploration of vintage and American archetypes (’90s in particular), puffed volumes, and the soft textures employed in the gender-neutral garments that make up the launch. All the clothes and accessories exude a post-preppy feel and have been given a new meaning.
What can we find in the capsule? Polo shirts, novelty detailed shirts, knitted jumpers, patterned cargo trousers, and other faded denim, and of course outerwear like oversized puffer jackets, leather jackets, and more. The looks are finished off with hiking boots and accessories such as hats, caps, bags, and sunglasses.
Moncler x Palm Angels capsule collection is available now at moncler.com and palmangels.com and in select boutiques of both from 26 October.
