Aitor Santomé Launches AHOY Diary on Board
by Adriano Batista
Aitor Santomé’s AHOY Diary on Board is a glitter-drenched, holographic love letter to queer joy, fashion, and the magic of the open sea. Created in collaboration with illustrator Humberto Cruz and featuring a foreword by drag icon Jinkx Monsoon, this photo diary captures the life aboard a gay cruise, mixing raw collage aesthetics with high-fashion flair.
Designed to feel like a well-loved ’90s notebook, the book mixes over ten different types of paper, from glow-in-the-dark covers to holographic inserts. The front showcases JW Anderson’s crystal bra design, shining bright against dark backgrounds. Six chapters mirror the themed parties onboard (Disco, What’s Your Kink?, Ladies T-Dance), turning each page into a portal of fantasy and desire.
This is a book meant to be touched and played with. It comes with stickers, a removable poster, and a keychain, all designed by Cruz. The different papers crinkle and reflect light as you flip through, making each page turn an experience. It’s a tribute to community, to fashion, and to the magic that happens when people come together to celebrate who they are.
