MODAPORTUGAL Fashion Design Competition 2022
by Eduardo G.
From six countries and eight of the best fashion schools in Europe, 18 young designers competed in the 8th edition of MODAPORTUGAL Fashion Design Competition, held last week in Porto.
A few days before the contest, these young designers have been able to visit some Portuguese factories leading in innovation, sustainability, technology, and research. It may seem something too technical but it ends up having a significant impact on the designers’ own creativity since they have been able to discover new techniques that can inevitably contribute to greater artistic development.
All this has culminated in an event where personalities from the technological and artistic scene of the Portuguese industry have been able to attend the parade of these 18 creatives. At the end, the jury made up of Eduarda Abbondanza, Chris Vidal Tenomaa, Serge Carrera, Federico Poletti, Philippe Pourhashemi, Miguel Flor, Serge Ruffieux, and Karen Langley, have chosen the best collection of each participating country and the winner of the 8th edition of the competition that has been Norman Mabire-Larguier. Fado-singer Ana Moura was in charge of entertaining the gala singing songs from her latest album “Casa Guilhermina“.
The list of participants included Ellen Rajala, Jarno Kettunen, Taneli Ukura, Mouyakabi Diamondé, Paul Billot, Zoé Gerolymos, Federico Di Nisio, Fengqin Yue, Samuel Lewis, Andreia Reimão, Ivan Hunga Garcia, Rita Miguel Costa, Agapornis, Niels Raonisen, Benjamin Ethan, Dayoung Jang, and Leo Prothmann.
