”In the past, people were born royal. Nowadays, royalty comes from what you do.” Gianni Versace

There is an in nite number of uncrowned kings and queens in the world. They are the people who have fought for their ideals and their fellow men. People who have highlighted issues and fought battles, so that they could govern over their small world, where they are respected and revered.
It may be so that these new royals don’t have blue blood. Some even dye the ground red with their battles for equality and defending who they are. They are the activists and people from minority groups who are confronted with the struggle for existing, daily.
In a way, it is a kind of romance that attracts us to royalty. It could be because of the Disney lms we watched as children. Or it could be the inaccessibility that the royals represent. It may well be that their lives of protection and perfection is something that we seek to emulate in our own.
These ideas have inspired people in the worlds of art, fashion and music. For this issue, we have interviewed some of those people: Alexandra Moura, Maxime Plescia-Buchi ,Valentin Glémarec, Victor Barragán, and the newly titled ‘baron’, Dries Van Noten. I’m sure we’ve left out a lot of princes and kings, not only due to a lack of pages, but also because a lot of people, as the royals that they are, have made themselves inaccessible.
