2018 was the year in which the Italian fashion house Gucci, hand in hand with Major League Baseball, began to introduce college influences, typical of the United States, in the Italian-style designs that at the time were designed by the creative director at the helm of the firm, Alessandro Michele.

The mix of these two, at the time, was something surprising and a bet that a priori was perhaps not the safest possible, but it worked too well and they decided to go ahead with it, as we can see 5 years later. In the wardrobe proposed by the two parts we find, of course, a selection of sporty style garments composed of varsity jackets, waistcoats, bowling shirts, sweatpants, and accessories in the form of pieces of jewellery, sunglasses, and the mythical New Era caps. All of these items bear the hallmarks of both brands and are made in a range of bright colours.

Bright colours and logos are undoubtedly the stars of the line, except a combination of neutral tones (black and cream) that appears on a tweed jacket with gold buttons, considered the subtlest of the capsule along with the black New York Yankees-inspired loafers.

Gucci x Major League Baseball collection is now available for purchase online or at the fashion house’s boutique in the Meatpacking District.
