The Galician photographer Sergio Penas reflects on the futility and durability of fashion to investigate its true meaning.
I discovered Sergio Penas by chance on Instagram. It was like one of those encounters in the subway in which one person looks at another with furtive curiosity, savoring the fleetingness of a moment that you know will not last or go any further. His photographs are always especially personal to me, capable of constructing a universe full of lights and shadows, of singular and different bodies and beauties. Something characteristic is the lighting, which in his multiple projects is never reflected in the same way, because Sergio seems to mold it to his liking, making the semi-darkness or full exposure another complement, which embellishes his portraits in a unique and different way. Now, after some time navigating the always dark waters of the world of fashion, Sergio, through shiny plastic bags and the body of four beautiful models, has created a deep reflection on the meaning of clothing and the industry in which it is sold, over which the shadow of absolute frivolity always hangs, making us wonder: Is all this worth it?
