Yorgos Maraziotis Explores Memory and Space in Blue Moon Exhibition
by Adriano Batista

K-Gold Temporary Gallery presents Blue Moon, a solo exhibition by Greek artist Yorgos Maraziotis, running from July 12 to August 31, 2025. Curated by Nicolas Vamvouklis, the show features a site-specific installation that examines how people inhabit spaces and form connections.

Maraziotis works with sculpture and spatial interventions, blurring the line between reality and imagination. His pieces explore displacement, what happens when objects are taken from their usual surroundings and take on new meanings. This idea reflects both physical change and the experience of moving between places.

The exhibition draws from stories shared by former residents of the neoclassical house that now holds K-Gold Temporary Gallery in Agia Paraskevi, Lesvos. Maraziotis transforms these narratives into works made of neon, marble, metal, and mirrors. He also reintroduces architectural elements removed during the building’s renovation, creating tangible links to its past. The result is an environment that feels both recognizable and surprising, a space where personal and collective histories overlap.

Maraziotis, born in Athens in 1984 and now based in Antwerp, has shown his work internationally at venues like the Benaki Museum, Matadero Madrid, and the Tinguely Museum. He was also an artist-in-residence at MASS MoCA.
