Umbro unveils its second lifestyle collection designed by Sebastian Strappazzon
by Anna Barr
After the launch of its first Lifestyle collection for Fall/Winter 2021, UMBRO is back for a second half-time and delievers a colorful Spring/Summer 2022 collection.
Composed of 13 pieces created by designer Sebastian Strappazzon, co-founder of the brand Avnier, the collection draws its inspiration from the world of youth culture and the exhilaration brought on by football’s most brilliant moments.
Unisex by nature, the garments offer streetwear silhouettes enhanced with athletic codes and fashion details. The UMBRO logo is also revisited, this time with a glitch effect, expressly deconstructed for a more aggressive finish. Flocked on T-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies, this logo marks this season’s collaboration with the designer.
There is something rather unique to the game of football that can provide such strong emotions that the ups and downs sometimes follow one another in frenzy. Inspired by these “emotional elevators”, Umbro has depicted the game’s euphoria through a heatmapping-inspired color palette, thus exploring the method of mapping emotions on the body through a variety of hues and gradients.
