Supermodel Alton Mason dons Ruslan Baginskiy
by Anna Barr
Supermodel Alton Mason and Ukrainian hat designer Ruslan Baginskiy collaborated on a unique photo project, which was captured by Paris-based Irish-born Egyptian artist Rafik Greiss, who was born in Ireland. With the shot’s symbolic release on Alton’s birthday, it dives into the relationship between fashion and identity and strengthens the friendship between the two creatives.
“I know Alton’s love for hats, so we had some of the pieces crafted especially for the shoot. Among Alton’s countless talents is his multifacetedness and brave individuality. I think hats are the perfect way to highlight those qualities. They are always very personal objects. A great example of the deeper relationship we build with our clothes and with fashion in general. That’s important to both of us,” shares Ruslan.
The resulting pictures show how the two in the industry are united by a common love for creativity and self-expression. A tribute to the metamorphic potential of fashion, this piece illustrates how hats, as individualized mementos, can reflect a person’s identity and represent the bond between people and what they wear.
