Sónar is back for its 31st edition on June 13, 14 and 15, 2024. The festival will take place at Fira Montjuïc and Fira Gran Via, with more than 200 shows, DJ sets, projects and activities, featuring artists, technologists, scientists and specialists in multiple disciplines of the creative industries from more than 30 countries.

Sónar 2024 offers a diverse and cutting-edge program, where the pioneers of electronic culture will coexist with artists who are shaping the present and future of music and sound. The festival will showcase the enormous diversity of genres and subgenres in contemporary electronic music, from the most contemplative ambient to the most euphoric drum’n’bass, from happy hardcore to post-punk and black metal to gabber to hyperpop, post-club and memecore.

Some of the highlights of the program include Laurent Garnier, Kittin b2b David Vunk, Sevdaliza, Danny Tenaglia, Paul Kalkbrenner, Adriatique, Richie Hawtin, VTSS, among others.

Sónar+D 2024: AI and creativity in the spotlight

Sónar+D is the meeting point of innovation and digital creativity that takes place in Barcelona from June 13 to 16, 2024, alongside the Sónar music festival. The event will focus on how AI is reshaping the creative industries and society, offering a wide range of activities and experiences for the attendees. Some of the highlights of the program are: an exhibition of creative-technological projects that use AI to generate different types of content; masterclasses, forums, professional meetings and multi-screen audiovisual conferences with experts and practitioners who will share their insights and perspectives on AI and creativity; a special program on immersivity, featuring world leaders in this field, who will explore the new possibilities and frontiers of immersive experiences; an audiovisual conference by Sasha Costanza-Chock, a researcher, writer and activist, who will present a more inclusive and diverse approach to technology and innovation; the AI & Music program, powered by S+T+ARTS, an initiative of the European Commission, which will showcase performances, talks, workshops and exhibitions that explore the relationship between AI and music, featuring artists such as Sevdaliza, Lee Gamble, Moisés Horta aka 𝔥𝔢𝔵𝔬𝔯𝔠𝔦𝔰𝔪𝔬𝔰 and Myriam Bleau & Nien Tzu Weng; and the participation in TIMES, a cooperation between 10 European festivals, co-funded by the European Union, which will present co-produced performances with Berlin Atonal, Nuits Sonores, and Reworks.

Sónar+D will also start on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June with the 2nd edition of +RAIN Film Festival, a unique event that showcases films made exclusively with AI, co-organized with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The festival will feature screenings, talks and workshops at the UPF Poblenou Campus and at Sónar by Day.
