OFF-WHITE™ Fall/Winter 2025
by Adriano Batista
OFF-WHITE™’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, presented in Paris under the creative direction of Ib Kamara, is a tribute to Nigeria, Kamara’s home country. Titled State of Resistance, the collection blends Nigerian cultural elements with OFF-WHITE™’s signature streetwear style, creating a vision of unity and resilience.
The collection features symbols like eagles and stars, which hold dual meanings. While they might remind some of the United States, they also reflect West African identity—the Nigerian national soccer team is known as the “Super Eagles,” and the Ghanaian flag proudly displays a single star. These symbols appear throughout the collection, embroidered or printed on coats, ties, and fitted dresses. A subtle yet striking detail is the deep ‘V’ cut running down the thighs of some scuba- and biker-inspired looks, a nod to the late Virgil Abloh, OFF-WHITE™’s founder.
The theme of State of Resistance centers on the idea of a uniform, symbolizing a futuristic community coming together to face challenges. Berets, a recurring element, reference both Virgil Abloh’s past work and the Black Panthers, connecting to a history of Pan-African political resistance. The collection also reintroduces OFF-WHITE™’s iconic striped patterns in a new accessory called the Sand Bag.
Designs play with texture and functionality. Bouclé fabric is combined with jersey in oversized ivory jackets and colorful knitted pieces for men. Practicality is emphasized with small storage compartments added to shoes, pants, jackets, and messenger bags. The OFF-WHITE™ logo’s signature arrows appear on a denim-effect jersey look, pointing in every direction, while eagles and stars add a bold graphic touch.
