The Fred Perry x Bathing Ape® collab campaign combines two distinct subcultures: Tokyo, and London in a familiar way. The new campaign allows the different demographics to bond over the shared experience of life after dark. Since January Fred Perry has had a running theme called “Night Tale” which romanticizes subcultures merging together while going out. The Fred Perry X Bape campaign was shot in the city streets of London and Tokyo to represent Fred Perry’s British roots and BAPE’s Japanese origins. This collaboration seamlessly combines the older, classier, athletic style of Fred Perry with the new-age streetwear vibe of BAPE.

This reimagined Fred Perry X Bathing Ape® Collab releases March 11, however, this is not their first collaboration together. They began working together in 2012 to celebrate Fred Perry’s 60th anniversary by combining the established, preppy Fred Perry look with the emerging street aesthetic that BAPE carried. Their first collaboration consisted of only one polo and two graphic tees; now they offer a track jacket, three hoodies and three polos. The new collection captures both the British and Japanese subcultures by using the Fred Perry silhouette in the polos and BAPE’s famous camo print and “bathing” ape logo.
