ERL, the label of designer Eli Russell Linnetz, is marking its fifth anniversary with a new version of its signature shoe. The Vamp Highs are a debut high-top silhouette, part of the brand’s FW25 collection.

The original Vamp shoe, introduced in 2024, was developed over several years and quickly gained attention. It was born as a skate shoe with a complex design, a direct reference to Linnetz’s hometown of Venice Beach, California. This new high-top version builds on that foundation.

The Vamp Highs have a chunky silhouette, true to their skateboarding origins. They feature ERL’s signature swirl and wave motifs, connecting them to the local grunge aesthetic of Venice. The shoe is available in two colorways: Pirate Black and Natural. It is made from soft suede and includes a neoprene lining.

The packaging continues the narrative. The box is made from the same corrugated material used by the US Postal Service. It is transparent, revealing the shoes inside wrapped in ERL newsprint. This paper features archival prints from underground newspapers that circulated in Venice Beach during the 1970s.
