Downtown+ presents trônes 2: Bridging Eras in Design
by Ivica Mamedy

trônes 2 picks up where the 2023 edition left off, an exciting collaboration with Romain Bitton and continues our exploration of what a “throne” can mean today. This new chapter brings together sculptural seats and contemporary works that touch on themes like power, creativity, leisure, and intimacy. You’ll find a mix of iconic pieces from the downtown+ collections alongside fresh work from today’s rising voices in collectible design. Each object is more than just a seat, it tells a story, sparking memories, personal reflections, or moments from history.

With trônes 2, we continue to rethink and demystify the idea of the “throne” turning it into a space for conversation between the past and the present, between the piece and the story it carries. Expect to see standout works by Gaetano Pesce, Andrea Branzi, Archizoom, Superstudio, and Paolo Pallucco in conversation with contemporary talents like Leo Orta, Wendy Andreu, and others, alongside new paintings by a contemporary artist.

Founded in 2023 by Galerie Downtown and Luna Laffanour, downtown+ is a fresh space that blends pieces from the gallery’s collection with exciting work by today’s emerging contemporary creators. Known around the world for its exhibitions on iconic figures like Prouvé, Perriand, and Jeanneret, Galerie Downtown has long celebrated the work of 20th-century architects while also teaming up with today’s designers to keep the conversation moving forward.

trônes 2 From October 18 to 23, 11 rue Las Cases, 75007 Paris, France.
