Crafters Wanted! Apply for the LOEWE Craft Prize 2025
by Adriano Batista
The LOEWE FOUNDATION is opening applications for the 2025 Craft Prize! The ceremony will be at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid next spring. Artists have until October 30, 2024 to apply. Check out all the rules and how to enter at loewecraftprize.com.

Since 2016, the LOEWE Craft Prize has been all about finding the coolest crafts out there. They give prizes to international artists who make amazing stuff that pushes the boundaries of what craft can be. Anyone can apply, and there’s a big €50,000 grand prize, plus two special €5,000 mentions.
LOEWE’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, started the prize because he thinks craftsmanship is super important, even today. He wants to find artists whose talent and fresh ideas will shape the future of crafts. The Craft Prize is also a shout-out to LOEWE’s history, which began as a small craft workshop way back in 1846. As Anderson says, “Craftsmanship will always be modern. It is about creating objects with their own formula and language that establish a dialogue that previously did not exist and celebrating both the new and the traditional.”
The 2024 prize got a crazy 3,900 entries from artists all over the world! A panel of artist experts will pick the 30 finalists. This year, the panel has some new members, including Michelle Fisher from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, metal artist Kevin Grey (who was a finalist in 2024!), mixed media artist Ibrahim Mahama, and glass artist Aya Oki (another 2024 finalist!). They’ll be judging the entries on how original they are, the artistic vision, how well they’re made, and how well the artist tells their story through their craft.
The finalists’ work will be on display at the famous Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. The winner will be chosen from these amazing pieces, and announced at a ceremony at the museum next spring.
