GENTLE MONSTER Announces Collaboration With Global Artist CAI XUKUN
by Adriano Batista

Gentle Monster has announced a partnership with the global artist Cai Xu Kun (KUN) for a capsule collection of fashion-forward eyewear inspired by the mysterious world of secret agents of the future. The project was directed by the singer-songwriter/rapper and includes a campaign, mobile app, product packaging, and offline space. The collection, consisting of four sunglasses in various bold silhouettes and handcrafted edgy temple design detail, will launch on April 23 and will be available online and at the Gentle Monster New York flagship. The prices range from $279-$460.

The collaboration includes four styles: 0001, a sporty aviator shape with striking angular lines and a three-dimensional frame with metal temples enhanced with crystals and a spinning KUN logo; 0002, an aviator style frame embellished with a crystal KUN logo, available in metallic gray and pale butter yellow; 0003, a modern voluminous oval shape frame with metal symbol and asymmetrical temple detail on both sides, available in black, khaki, brown, vibrant olive, and soft blue lenses; and 0004, an elegant curved square frame accented with metal details for an edgy look.

To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, the GENTLE MONSTER CRYSTAL CLEAR app will launch on April 21, immersing players in a world where they become secret agents, helping KUN on covert missions. The top 10 ranking players each week for three consecutive weeks after the app’s launch will receive a special prize, a secret agent package containing four secret agent items from the Gentle Monster x KUN eyewear collection.

Additionally, a pop-up of CAI XU KUN’s “Base” will debut at Gentle Monster’s Shanghai and Beijing stores, allowing visitors to explore Kun’s special agent items. During the pop-up, HAUS Shanghai “Base” will sell Crystal Cakes to celebrate the collaboration.
