Ifeanyi Okwuadi Awarded Grand Prix in Fashion at the 36th Edition of the Hyères International Festival

British Designer Ifeanyi Okwuadi, 27, took home the Top Fashion Prize at this year’s edition of Hyères with Lacoste’s Louise Trotter heading the jury. The Savile Row-trained tailor of Sierra Leone and Nigerian descent, showed a military-inspired men’s wear collection “Take the Toys from the Boys”, made up of toy cars as brooches, or patches sourced on eBay and based on sketches by the Scouting founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell.
Additionally, this year’s edition had several surprises including a surprise concert by Malik Djoudi, a performance by a Lanvin-clad Camélia Jordana to open the fashion finalists’ runway presentation, and an underground after-party in a decommissioned restaurant inside the Hyères airport. From now until the 28th November, the exhibitions will be open to the public except the presidents of the jurys exhibitions, the prize winners 2O2O in partnership with le19M and the CHANEL Métiers d’art.
