It’s just a matter of time before the next winners of the International Woolmark Prize 2023 are revealed. Nerves are high, but the designers who make up the group of finalists have everything under control and in order. The collections are ready, and what’s more, today, as the last week of April draws to a close, they have been unveiled in a film called “DIALOGUE”, directed by Zak Kyes, and in collaboration with Joan Jonas, Taylour Paige, and Loyle Carner.
A Roege Hove, Bluemarble, Lagos Space Programme, Marco Rambaldi, MaxxiJ, Paolina Russo, Rhude, and Robyn Lynch are the eight lucky ones who have reached the final phase of the competition and whose proposals appear in the aforementioned film, related to one of Jonas’ most emblematic performances (Delay Delay – 1972) and in which an intergenerational dialogue is created between the artist and the designers. We all know what a dialogue is, and even practice it every day in any situation in our daily lives, so, given its strong presence, it has become the main theme of the IWP.
Representing this concept are actor Taylour Paige and musician Loyle Carner, who appear wearing the pieces of the collections in a dream location, the coast of Marseille, where unexpected rhythms of space and scale are created.
The film is now available for viewing and is the final reveal before the winners of the competition are announced at an event on May 15th in Paris.
