Willy Chavarria Spring/Summer 2025
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Mexican-American designer Willy Chavarria is now considered one of the most respected names in fashion, there’s no disputing that. His vision on menswear has become for some a religion to follow and, precisely for all of them, the news related to the arrival of the first installment of his Spring/Summer 2025 collection – presented last September during New York Fashion Week – is cause for celebration.
“América” is the name of the line, as Chavarría was inspired by the United Farm Workers movement, the civil rights movement, and the women’s liberation movement in the country. Such inspiration has been reflected in the sporty tailoring that composes it, generally in beige and black.
Complementing the aforementioned is a wide range of relaxed, oversized clothing such as bomber jackets, hooded and non-hooded sweatshirts, washed T-shirts with “WILLY” graphics, or jeans, paired with hats with ACLU logos and farm produce graphics, and lace-up and heeled shoes.
