The PUMA Inhale Returns
by Adriano Batista

The PUMA Inhale is back, not just as a relic of the early 2000s, but as a testament to the brand’s ability to bridge the gap between heritage and innovation. This refreshed silhouette carries the torch of the original’s fearless attitude, but with a contemporary twist.
Born from the high-performance Cellerator family, the Inhale first gained recognition for its CELL cushioning and cool design. Inspired by human biology, its bold lines resembled a network of veins and muscles, further emphasized by the fiery red Formstrip that pulsed across the upper like an artery. This wasn’t just a shoe; it was a statement piece, a celebration of power and athleticism.

The 2024 Inhale acknowledges the changing landscape. While retaining its signature elements, it prioritizes comfort for everyday wear. The wider fit and softer midsole ensure a smoother transition from the track to the street, reflecting a growing cultural trend where functionality and fashion are no longer seen as opposing forces.
The Inhale’s resurgence isn’t solely driven by nostalgia. A$AP Rocky’s successful 2023 collaboration with PUMA, featuring the Inhale, solidified the shoe’s status as a streetwear icon. This, coupled with the original’s cult following, proves the Inhale’s enduring appeal.

Now, Dutch football star Xavi Simons steps forward as the face of the Inhale’s new chapter. His youthful energy embodies the shoe’s spirit – a fearless confidence that thrives on both performance and style.
However, the Inhale isn’t alone. Accompanying its return is the PUMA Inverse, a bold new silhouette designed using AI and refined by human craftsmanship. The Inverse draws inspiration from the Inhale’s DNA, but takes it a step further with a more progressive and rebellious edge. It’s a testament to PUMA’s commitment to pushing boundaries while honoring its legacy.

The Inhale represents a successful evolution, while the Inverse embodies the brand’s commitment to constant reinvention.
