This Friday afternoon, the fashion world witnessed a mysterious Instagram post on Jean Paul Gaultier‘s official account: a white background with an inscription in black letters saying “The end.”, with the caption “The end of an era” in his biography description. The brand also and removed his profile photo.

The “enfant terrible” of French fashion announced his retirement in January last year, assuring fans that his eponymous label would remain, with a different designer to be invited each season to interpret the codes of the House. Chitose Abe from sacai will be the first one, showing at the Paris couture week in July.

This is clearly an advertising campaign or a rebranding strategy like we already saw with Bottega Veneta back in January when they got rid of its social networks. Either way, it worked and we are intrigued.

A more recent post on his Instagram shows a video featuring different logos with a #FutureIsCollective hashtag on the caption, suggesting the new collaborations that might be coming on the way.
