Red September Fall/Winter 2023
by Fucking Young!

Red September has named its new collection “Vacuum”, which is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as a space with little or no matter or from which most or all of the matter has been removed. The collection represents the feeling of emptiness, silence, and suspense that emerged in 2022 “when it seemed that all the oxygen had been drained out of society, leaving everyone detached and isolated from the outside world“.
Before 2022, people used to feel like they were part of a friendly community, breathing deeply and enjoying close relationships with friends, colleagues, and relatives. However, after the events of 2022, those close ties were shattered and replaced by the “bubble phenomenon”, where everyone is alone and fenced off from others.
Red September’s collection reflects this new reality by favoring a more voluminous style, featuring hoodies and puffer jackets that invite the wearer to wrap up, hide, and wear multi-layered outfits. The most straightforward symbol of the collection is the pacific, which represents the symbolic oxygen-deficit of 2022.
However, in 2023, Red September wants to emphasize the removal of preconceptions that have deprived people of oxygen, highlighting the spirit of a society that desires collaboration and integration. Vacuum now represents the will to be part of the world, the same world that is an integral part of Red September’s team and society as a whole.
