This morning sleepy guests arrived at the Old Sorting Office London Collections: Men venue for the first show of the day.
With his Fall/Winter 2015, Lee Roach opened the second day of the London menswear collections. The show started with a very graphical installation by Filippo Maria Bianchi and Giorgio Gremigni. Flashing lights, stripes and squares set the tone for what Roach had to offer this morning.
The first half of the show was dominated by the black and grayscale ensembles Roach has been known – and praised – for the last few seasons. The looks were followed by outfits with orange and lemon details.
For this season, Roach was inspired by light manipulation. It resulted in wonderful pieces in which form, texture and an architectural approach were key.
It was the first time Roach showed in the British Fashion Council’s bigger venue. And where this is a spot he definitely deserved during the past few seasons, it is whether this is the right fit for the designer that is the big question. His collections can easily be misinterpreted for being ‘simple’, when in fact the small and intimate setting at the Victoria House offered guests the opportunity to experience the collection’s complexity season after season.
Nonetheless, his show fueled all the guests with loads of energy and introducted them to the exciting second day of London Collections: Men.
