Jekeun, a Korean contemporary menswear brand based in London, has just unveiled its debut pre-collection for Pre-Fall24. The collection is a reflection of designer Jekeun Cho’s fascination with the modern male psyche and the paradox of growing up.

The collection mixes vintage and modern elements, creating a contrast between childhood and adulthood. Cho uses old-school blazers and rugby jerseys, cut and reworked, to evoke the boy who dreams of being a man, but feels stuck in time. He also plays with oversized tailoring, suggesting the man who still carries the insecurities and anxieties of his inner child.

Cho explores the theme of time as a double-edged sword, a source of hope and regret. He says that as young boys, we are eager to grow up and face the future, but as grown men, we often look back and miss the past. He expresses this tension through deconstructed shorts made from oversized trousers, symbolizing the boy who wears his father’s clothes and the man who tries to fit in his son’s.
