Haize Unveils “Future Fossils”: A Dystopian Vision of Art and Fashion

Last week, Lisbon’s art scene was treated to a unique exhibition at Haize‘s new public space. Titled “Future Fossils,” the showcase featured the sculptural works of Selva Huygens and a haunting sound installation by Lara Damaso.
Selva, known for his innovative designs, presented a dystopian vision of the future through his intricate sculptures crafted from upcycled materials. He has a distinctive style that is centered around the color white. He draws inspiration from brutalist architecture and art, and uses discarded materials like car parts and metal to create functional and wearable pieces. These pieces serve as a stark reminder of the environmental consequences of our consumer-driven society.
Lara Damaso’s contribution to the exhibition was equally powerful. Her live-recorded sound installation, performed in the heart of the gallery, was a haunting lament for the planet. Through her voice, she channeled the pain and suffering of the earth, urging us to reconsider our relationship with nature.

“Future Fossils” is on display at Haize Gallery in Marvila 8 Lisbon until October 15th, open from Thursdays to Sundays, 12 PM to 8 PM.
