For his fifth collection presented during 080 Barcelona Fashion, Eñaut was inspired by flysch, groups of rocks that reflect the history of the planet in layers revealing its evolution over millions of years.

This structure of differentiated mineral lines of the flysch is revealed in the striped prints and pleats, as well as in the dual composition of the pieces: two halves facing each other to create a whole. The artisan jeweler Tò Garal and the handbag brand Nonnai, Eñaut’s creative accomplices; have created ad hoc pieces for this collection.

We spoke with the designer and here’s what he told us:

Tell us a bit about the collection you are presenting at 080 Barcelona Fashion.

This new collection is called Bost, which means five in basque, in reference to the fact that it is my fifth collection. For these new creations, I have been inspired by Flysch, groups of rocks that reflect the history of the planet in layers. This natural book that I had walked on since my childhood. The colors palette is – as in the stone mantles – black, grey and white. Layers of sediment and rock alternate between hardness and softness, exactly like in the materials we will find: recycled polyester, vegan leather, tricot and organic elements, like cotton or silk. Also, the structure of differentiated mineral lines of the flysch is revealed in the striped prints and pleats, as well as in the dual composition of the pieces.

What’s the importance of nature on your designs?

I always like to take advantage of the opportunity that 080 gives me to reach many people with my collections, to try to send a message to them. To try to make the viewer think. That’s why I like to be inspired by the natural events that happen at the moment. For this collection instead, I have changed the perspective and wanted to focus on what nature creates on its own, moving away from the vision of the footprint that human beings are leaving over time.

Is sustainability present in your creative process?

I am aware of the industry I belong, therefore sustainability is always present in all the processes I follow. That’s why I try to make all the steps I take an ethical thought behind. Apart from applying it in the creative process or the sewing part, the choice and use of fabrics are very important. Adapting to all the news and advances in terms of sustainable fabrics.

You collaborated with the artisan jeweler Tò Garal and the handbag brand Nonnai. How was the experience?

Yes, for this edition I have had the luck and opportunity to work with two incredible brands. With Tò Garal I have been working since my first collection and I think you can already notice the harmony with which we work. This time we have worked with a vision of linear structures, creating armor or shoulder pads that have given protection to lighter garments. Also, we will also find smaller pieces such as rings, earrings or bracelets, all of them continuing with the idea of the Flysch lines. On the other hand, I have been lucky to work with the emerging handbag brand Nonnai. With her we have created the bags for Bost, respecting the philosophy and shapes of the brand combined with the materials I used within my collection. It has been a very easy and beautiful journey and I think it is reflected in how well the bags have impasted with the garments.
