Edward Crutchley FW18 Backstage
by Louise Squire
Returning for his second collection, Edward Crutchley focuses firmly on silhouette and print.
Shown at Ironmongers’ Hall, the ambiance and religious-like decorations referenced the brand’s ethos, while contrasting and making the collection pop. Oversized jackets, knitted jumpers with thigh-length sleeves and unisex skirts all feature on tactile materials such as silk, denim, corduroy, velvet, and mink.
Items are spliced and cinched-in to add femininity, while also breaking up the mass amount of excess fabric. Collaborating with Emoji, every piece features print across the fabric, but remain true to Edward Crutchley’s spiritual and tradition heritage as many pieces look oriental-inspired.
The collection sticks to a primary palette, mostly consisting of red, but with hints of gold, white and of course black and white. This collection is a great addition to LFWM and the brand’s archives.
