Duran Lantink Spring/Summer 2025
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Clearly, the creativity of the Dutch designer based in Paris and the latest winner of the prestigious LVMH Karl Lagerfeld award, Duran Lantink, has no limits. This was evident at the latest edition of Paris Fashion Week, where his proposal was one of the most striking, in terms of design.
The heart of Le Marais, one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the French capital, was the area chosen to celebrate its third fashion show and present its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, where the main theme was the balance of its characteristic three-dimensional shapes and comfort, thus exploring the playful side of dressing.
Lantink doesn’t imagine men wearing conventional clothes, but rather the opposite, sculptural shapes with volumes on specific parts of the body that make going unnoticed a difficult task, as the vertical striped two-piece ensembles say, the hooded and zipped tops with XL padding on the chest, or the look that surprised the attendees at the event by seeing themselves reflected in the screen embedded in a mini-dress on which the show was broadcast live. Incredible but true!
Within Duran’s fantastical, sculptural world, there is also occasionally some room for practicality. That’s where it comes in: the zipped jackets and tops with flared sleeves, the drop-waist trousers, and skirts that are held in place by sewn-on briefs, the floor-length tunics, and the brand’s first bag, wearable in three different ways. The most amusing of all? On the head, like a headpiece.
Duran Lantink is one of the few designers who currently sees the fashion industry in a fun way and who, ever since he burst onto the scene, has managed to generate some kind of sensation in those who pay attention to his designs. Hopefully, he will continue to do so for a long time to come.
