Dr. Martens x Smiley
by Adriano Batista
Dr. Martens‘ boots have been the footwear of choice for subcultural icons, embraced by punks, rebels, and kindred spirits for decades. In the ’80s and ’90s, Smiley® became the symbol of various electronic music subcultures, rooted in boundless acceptance and unbridled joy. It embodied the positivity of dance and the liberated spirit of counterculture. Now, their first-ever collaboration celebrates the infectious vibes of music and the rebellious optimism of the dance floor.
The star of this collection is, without a doubt, the iconic Dr. Martens 1460 boot. It’s instantly recognizable with its classic eight-eye silhouette, crafted in the omnipresent black Smooth leather, featuring embossed Smiley® details and the trademark yellow stitching. This boot rocks yellow eyelets and double laces – one black with the Smiley® text, the other yellow with the Smiley® logo. Classic DM’s DNA elements are still there: the heel tab and that unmistakable yellow stitching that reinforces the grooved sole. You’ll spot the Smiley® logo inside the boot and on the insole too.
This joyful makeover of DM’s signature silhouette keeps the party going with a fresh take on the three-eye 1461 shoe. It’s decked out in black Smooth leather, boasting the Smiley® logo on the vamp and the rear pull tab. Black eyelets and two sets of laces, one black with the Smiley® text and the other yellow with the Smiley® logo, add that extra flair. The Smiley® logo pops inside the shoe and on the insole. The trusty DM’s grooved sole gets the yellow and black stitching treatment.
To top off this groovy collection, there are two accessory options: a crossbody bag to take that optimism with you wherever you go and a pair of socks. The bag is made from soft black Kiev leather, featuring a glossy black zipper and two AirWair-detailed straps, mirroring the classic DM’s heel pull tab.
The collection is up for grabs at drmartens.com and select retailers. Check it our below:
