French designer Yves Saint Laurent played a key role in the development of the Dior fashion house. He was extremely close to the Maison, as he became the first assistant to the founder himself, Christian Dior, and the first creative director to take over the reins of the firm after he died in 1957. From that moment on, Yves became part of fashion history as the youngest designer in French haute couture.
Any tribute to this great couture genius is insufficient. He revolutionized fashion and even gave a new meaning to the word. Kim Jones, the current creative director of the company’s men’s line, is aware of this and agrees, which is why he has decided to honor the figure of Saint Laurent in the Dior Men Winter 2023 campaign, which deals with the defining codes of the young prodigy through the lens of water, such as that of the Thames in London and the Seine in Paris.
The campaign, described by the Dior team as “a multifaceted ode to Maison’s heritage and the very essence of fashion: the beautifully useful”, is composed of four photographs, shot by photographer Rafael Pavarotti, featuring four models wearing clothes from the corresponding collection with complex, streamlined silhouettes, presented in Paris earlier this year during fashion week; and a film directed by Franck Lebon.
