CULTUREEDIT Launches First LGBTQ+ Art Auction with Fair Pay for Artists
by Adriano Batista
CULTUREEDIT is launching its inaugural online art auction, featuring 100 works by 70 LGBTQ+ artists from around the world. Titled “Art Auction #1,” the collection spans photography, painting, sculpture, textiles, and more, offering a rich mix of queer perspectives. What makes this auction different is its focus on fair compensation—artists will receive 65% of sales revenue, a rare commitment in an industry where marginalized creators are often asked to donate work for exposure.
The auction grew out of an open call earlier this year, which drew an unexpectedly strong response. For CULTUREEDIT—a platform with deep roots in queer art, from managing Tom of Finland licensing to curating exhibitions—this felt like a natural next step. Their goal is simple: to create a space where LGBTQ+ artists can showcase and sell their work without compromise.
