ASICS, a Concept by AIREI

AIREI is a Los Angeles-based brand from Drew Curry that sees a celebration of the human experience. AIREI’s ready-to-wear objects are handmade and numbered by the artisan who creates them. Drew uses deconstruction and reconstruction techniques to call attention to fragility. Single threads are a signature in his work representing mending and healing. Each piece is created with extraordinary attention to detail, making each item intentionally impossible to duplicate.
Following the success of the Dover Street Market x Felix Art Fair release in February, ASICS and AIREI have collaborated to offer a new colorway of the ASICS, Concept by AIREI GEL-QUANTUMTM KINETIC model. Originally designed for the SS24 show WINDHORSE, AIREI has wrapped the ASICS Gel-Quantum Kinetic in khadi gauze, a fabric produced without electricity in Eastern India.
It is an ode to the tenacious spirit that we all possess. The Gel-Quantum Kinetics, which signify perseverance, were absorbed by the frail gauze before being lit on fire by AIREI one by one. Flames represent dedication to a good cause, scarred textiles, and triumph over obstacles. Each shoebox is also covered in gauze, allowing the wearer to take part in the process.
