ACHILLES ION GABRIEL debuts at PITTI UOMO 105
by Adriano B.
The fashion world witnessed a new star on Thursday, 11th January 2024, when ACHILLES ION GABRIEL presented its first collection and runway show in Florence, Italy, as part of the PITTI UOMO 105 event.
The collection, which consists of gender-neutral Ready To Wear, Footwear and Accessories, was designed over the summer of 2023, and reflects the eclectic and eccentric influences of the designer.
The collection showcases wardrobe essentials such as tailoring, leather, cargo, jersey, denim, knitwear, dresses in a proper but loco style and the brand’s signature AIG blue. The details are what make the collection stand out, as they feature variations of wrinkle styles, poppy prints inspired by the Cotswolds fields, a wolf print as a nod to Achilles’s Lapland roots, an ink spill print and a detached collar, a “Go fuck yourself” print knit originally painted by a friend’s daughter for Achilles, scribble prints reminiscent of the ones carved on a park bench, and cowboy boots with metal tips that read “move bitch” to remind the wearer to be confident and assertive.
The collection is a bold and playful statement of the designer’s vision, which combines properness and madness, elegance and rebellion, tradition and innovation.
