Prada Frames: A Convergence of Design and Environment at Milan’s Salone del Mobile

The Prada Frames symposium returns to Milan for its third consecutive year, coinciding with the Salone del Mobile. This year’s theme, “Being Home,” invites attendees to explore the intricate interplay between design and the natural environment, reflecting on the evolving role of the home in contemporary society.
The home, traditionally a haven of comfort, now transcends its conventional role, serving as both a sanctuary and a hub of services. It is within these dynamic spaces that socio-economic norms are established and communities are shaped. The 2024 edition of Prada Frames seeks to delve into these transformations, examining the living environment as a pivotal framework for addressing today’s societal challenges.
Curated by the Formafantasma design and research studio, the symposium boasts an impressive roster of contributors. Esteemed scholars and professionals from various research fields will share their insights, including Paola Antonelli, Brigitte Baptiste, Kate Crawford, Jack Halberstam, OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Anna Puigjaner, Alice Rawsthorn, Isabella Rossellini, and Françoise Vergès.
Set against the backdrop of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, a neo-renaissance gem that once served as a private residence, the event promises intimate conversations and thematic lectures. From April 14 to April 16, the museum’s historic rooms, adorned with objects and furniture from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, will facilitate a seamless flow of dialogue across its living room, bedroom, dining room, bathroom, and library.
The event is open to all, free of charge, with registration available on prada.com starting April 9. As spaces are limited, interested individuals are encouraged to secure their attendance promptly for this experience at the intersection of design, history, and the essence of home.
