Couple of weeks before the release of his third album Something To Give Each Other, Australian singer and actor Troye Sivan just dropped his new single Got Me Started which features a sample of Bag Raiders’s 2011 song Shooting Stars. Sivan’s latest record was out in 2018 but remained productive with a heartbroken EP In A Dream in 2020 and was part of the controversial HBO TV Show The Idol alongside The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp as well as Jennie of Blackpink last June. This summer marked his comeback to music with Rush, the first taste of his upcoming album. This single was defined as a power-bottom anthem and gave us a music video that got on repeat all summer.
To remain in this hottie era, Sivan dropped the music video of his new single and it was filmed in Bangkok. It’s all about escapism and staying sexy even when you are living a melancholic period. He explained to Zane Lowe on Apple Music One that “There’s this sort of reprise when the synth comes back at the end in the video when I’m like being pulled up the building and there’s this new drum pattern and to me it was perfect… It was the euphoric moment of that total freedom of realizing that you’re completely fine on your own and that also this is not a moment of sadness, but a moment of endless possibilities.”
