MAISON KITSUNÉ Fall/Winter 2023
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Maison Kitsuné is living its best moment, and after having unveiled its latest collaboration with the Japanese brand And Wander, it has just presented the Fall/Winter 23 collection in lookbook format.
Taking inspiration from the clash between Teddy girls and Eton boys, this influence takes the form of basics like rugby shirts, varsity jackets, and polo shirts reimagined with the contemporary freshness that defines the Maison, brought in part by schoolboy stripes, floral regattas, and badges.
Every fashion line has a surprise in store, which in this case comes in the form of a bag. The model called “The Boogie” is the first item of its kind to be designed, of course, in keeping with the aesthetic, reinterpreting retro codes and made of Italian leather.
Another novelty of the proposal is the traditional frames, reworked on new scales, and the slightly oversized proportions that imbue the historical decorum with a modern insouciance. On the other hand, the brand logo, a key element, is reconsidered and sometimes appears in different colors and embroidered with wildflowers, while graphic flowers and daisy chains appear throughout the collection as details and printed jacquards. Rounding off this list of new ideas is floral camouflage, which mixes the vocabulary of both worlds.
Returning to the basics, so necessary nowadays, it must be said that these are not alone but protected by pieces that stand out for their meticulously constructed and richly textured sartorial silhouettes. The coats, indispensable during these seasons, maintain Maison Kitsuné’s key utilitarian multi-functionality, but with a touch of style. A wool twill coat or a water-repellent mackintosh with modern proportions. Finally, the technicality that dominates the outerwear is also present in the knitwear, which incorporates innovative weaving techniques, extra fine merino wools, and mouliné yarns for a luxurious look.
What’s next for Maison Kitsuné? Time will tell, but we’re sure it will be back soon with more news.
