Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons One Star Launches On July 28th
by Adriano Batista

Comme des Garçons announced the launch of the Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons One Star, a new silhouette for the collaboration.
First introduced in 1974 as a basketball sneaker, the One Star truly gained its status as a youth culture staple when it was re-introduced in 1993 and was quickly adopted by skaters, retro-sneaker enthusiasts, and key players in the grunge scene. Once the sneaker was spotted on Nirvana lead Kurt Cobain and skate legend Guy Mariano, the silhouette cemented itself as one of Converse’s most iconic releases.

A playful update to the One Star, the iconic PLAY Comme des Garçons heart and eyes logo meets the sneaker’s signature cut-out star design on black and white cotton canvas. The design stays otherwise true to the silhouette’s timeless look, keeping a minimalist palette and classic construction with contrast pinstripes and heel stays.

Teaming up with Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons once again, Co-Creative Directors Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Karl Bolander, and photographer Craig McDean capture this new style in a series of sleek, stylized photographs.

The new Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons One Star will be available July 28th, 2022 at Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores globally (excluding Japan), followed by select retailers. The collection will also be available online at doverstreetmarket.com and converse.com for 130€.
