Nicola Indelicato Spring/Summer 2021
by Adriano Batista

The new SS21 collection by Nicola Indelicato titled Lockdown was created during the period in which the designer was stuck in the studio due to the social restrictions for the Corona Virus.
This forced seclusion has been translated into the garments by the use of chains and thick metal details. The asymmetries of some garments arise from the need to use the few fabrics available at that time as all supplying companies were closed too and to make the most of what was already in stock, so to support sustainability, which has become a crucial theme especially at this moment in time.
To all this, in contrast, are added the concepts dear to the designer, the romantic aspect, which in this collection could be defined as “black romantic” and the attention to the tradition of Italian men’s tailoring.
To conclude, as a wish for a future where we will return to live our life to the full, inspired by the drawings of the children hanging out the balconies, a bouquet of colorful flowers on flesh-colored tulle as if to say “tutto andrà bene” (everything will be fine).
