Das Leben am Haverkamp Fall/Winter 2017
by Adriano Batista

The collective Das Leben am Haverkamp exists out of four young designers – Anouk van Klaveren, Christa van der Meer, Dewi Bekker and Gino Anthonisse. All designers have their own individual labels and they are presenting their work together to share their shared vision regarding the current fashion and design scene. This results in an unpolished way of working, with which they are pushing and sometimes even crossing boundaries.
Gino Anthonisse, Dewi Bekker, Anouk van Klaveren en Christa van der Meer are the four designers who together form the collective, Das Leben am Haverkamp. Fashion, the collective says, is a paradox: it suggests a forward thinking approach. But by constantly trying to predict the future, as it were, in no time that future is already history. Das Leben am Haverkamp is trying to disconnect from that calculated fashion system and instead focus on how their work relates to identity. Fashion, for them, is a tension between individual and collective identity. It lays bare who you are, who we are and who we aren’t or no longer want to be. Das Leben am Haverkamp tries to disregard time with intriguing results, as we saw during the last edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam.
