Recuerdo un oso.
Un oso de peluche camel.
Una fría y gris mañana de invierno en una excursión a los Castros Gallegos.
Mi madre, vestida de lanas y sedas en rosa, me llevaba de la mano,
y yo me preguntaba…
¿Por qué todo ha de ser de color de rosa?
Nacido en Barcelona, pero criado en Galicia, Manuel volvió en 2002 para estudiar en la Escuela de Diseño y MOda Felicidad Duce. Después de un tiempo trabajando en el equipo de diseño de la firma Mango, Manuel se decidió a crear su propia colección.
En 2007 ganó el premio de su promoción a la mejor colección en Bread&Butter Barcelona… participó en la Pasarela Abierta de Murcia y se llevó premios en los concursos de Jóvenes Creadores de Madrid, en el Festival Noovo de Santiago de Compostela, y finalmente, fue seleccionado para participar en el Proyecto Bressol de la Generalitat de Canalunya.
En septiembre de 2008, desfila con su primera colección “Viudas” en la que demostró sus grandes habilidades a través de la elaboración de tejidos en telares antiguos, puntillas de encaje de bolillos, bordados… reflejando el modus operanti artesal y sus orígenes gallegos. En marzo 2009, su colección “Peliqueiros” es presentada en Rendez Vous Femme de París y desfila también en la 080 Barcelona.
La última edición de 080 Barcelona Fashion, en septiembre de 2009, tambien contó con Bolaño y su “Canela en Rama”. Indiscutiblemente, se ha convertido en uno de los imperdibles, edición tras edición. Volumenes imposibles, cabezas de peluche, pasteles, pliegues…
