Few collaborative ventures can claim to capture the spirit of both brands quite like this one. Juxtaposing Eastpak’s classic black nylon fabric with bright, vibrant colors, Alexandre Mattiussi’s has clearly stamped his mark on some of Eastpak’s most iconic designs. While his signature play on proportions – creating “oversize” shapes and forms – adds a new contemporary twist of its own.
Combining inspirations from both sports and urban subcultures, the 3 bags in the collection employ the same colors and silkscreen prints from AMI’s FW17 collection. In so doing, Mattiussi has transformed the Eastpak backpack into a “blank canvas” for his own unique artistic vision. Creating something new and refreshing in the process.
The Eastpak X AMI collection comprises a tote bag, backpack and oversized bum bag and will be available in limited quantities from selected stockists, and www.eastpak.com as of June 2017.
In total, Sónar 2017 will feature more than 140 performances across 9 stages, including brand new shows from Justice, Arca (live) & Jesse Kanda (av), Soulwax, DJ Shadow, Nicolas Jaar, Moderat, Eric Prydz, De La Soul, Anderson.
“Essentials is the perfect blend of product and culture from a brand like Converse. Focussed around classic sportswear items, redefined for streetwear….it mirrors the story of Converse as a brand, born in sport, raised by the streets.”
For the Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, co-founders and artistic directors of Maison Kitsuné, drew their inspiration from American pop culture and the aesthetic and creative energie of New York born, Paris based, artist William Klein.
