Take a look at the Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster collaboration
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
Amid so many fashion weeks and shows, a collaboration just as surprising as Nike x Tiffany & Co. has been successfully launched, although in this case, the protagonists are different: Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster.
The joint project, based on concepts developed in the Artisanal atelier and conceived by Margiela creative director John Galliano and Gentle Monster, has now been unveiled, as have the items that make up this new alliance. The collab features original G.M. sunglasses and eyewear designs that are characterized by genderlessness and the incorporation of real thread detailing from the collaborating house’s logo, embodying the brand’s value of uncompromising creativity and self-expression.
Structured in acetate, the eleven designs are interpreted in bright colors and effects spanning black, white, grey, cream, transparent, and tortoiseshell. With hand-stitched matelassé quilted details, the collaboration package reconceives Maison Margiela’s Glam Slam clutch through the Gentle Monster aesthetic.
Keep an eye out for updates as the comprehensive eyewear collaboration will go on sale on February 28th worldwide, in Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela on/offline stores, and in select boutiques around the world. To celebrate the launch, collaborative pop-ups will be held in seven cities around the world.
