“Sweet Souvenirs” by Maison Kitsuné and Hotel Olympia
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
As the new season gets underway, brands are starting to unveil their new products and advertising campaigns. Many have already done so, and now it’s the turn of Maison Kitsuné, which presents the third part of its Spring/Summer 23 “Explore Everywhere” campaign.
We’ve mentioned previously that the Maison, between January and April, has been conducting an exploration everywhere, liberating the confines of reality: a world that deserves to be discovered, and which showcases the irreverent ease, optimistic outlook, and utilitarian practicality which define the brand.
Each destination corresponds to a part, and in the case of the third and last one, it is related to one of the cities where it originates: Paris. Indeed, the city of fashion or love, whatever you want to call it, is the final stop on Kitsuné’s journey, which is a poetic celebration of evasion and exploration, from the countryside to the city, passing through the places in between. As you can see, it is a brand defined by its constant curiosity and its ability to adapt to any environment.
For the latest stop on its SS23 exploration of everywhere, Maison Kitsuné arrives in the French capital and presents “Sweet Souvenirs”, a story between the brand and the Hotel Olympia that explores Parisian clichés. See, for example, the oversized macarons or the caramel-colored poodles, subverted keys to the notions of holiday kitsch that appear in the collection and in the campaign images photographed by Anton Gottlob.
Maison Kitsuné’s summer wardrobe includes souvenir T-shirts illustrated with collages of ice cream and postcards, resort shirts with pool prints, knitted two-piece sets, and embroidered hotel slippers in the form of espadrilles that exude summer influences mixed with the color codes of preppy sports clubs. These garments are complemented by a patchwork overshirt or a zip-up jumper that protects from the evening breeze and gives the nod to the utilitarian aesthetic. The accessories that complete the offer are baseball caps, a bag, and a cabana-striped towel with the new Maison Kitsuné crest. And of course, the gift that never fails when you’re going on a trip to a place that’s not your own: a key ring.
“Sweet Souvenirs” by Maison Kitsuné will be available from 12th April 2023 in stores and online at maisonkitsune.com.
